Real Estate Economics (REE) first published in 1973 is the oldest academic journal focusing on real estate issues and is considered the premier journal for real estate related topics. The journal facilitates communication among academic researchers and industry professionals and improves the analysis of real estate decisions. Each issue of REE reaches over 8,000 academics, finance and economic professionals, libraries, government and financial institutions around the world. Published six times a year, the journal is the official publication of The American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA).

Call for Nominations:  Editor, Real Estate Economics (through June 15, 2026)

The American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA) invites nominations for an upcoming vacancy for a non‑Managing Editor position at Real Estate Economics (REE). The appointment will begin January 2027. Information about REE and its current editorial board can be found on its website.

REE is AREUEA’s official journal and the pre‑eminent outlet for scholarly research in real estate, broadly defined. Editors manage the peer‑review process and make final editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts.

Term and eligibility:
The normal term is three years, with the possibility of one renewal, for a maximum of six years as Editor. Academic nominees must hold a tenured appointment; nominees from government, think tanks, or industry must have at least ten years of research experience. At the time of appointment, an Editor may not be employed at the same institution as another current Editor or the Managing Editor. Editors are expected to be AREUEA members when their term begins. Editors receive a modest annual stipend in recognition of their efforts.

Nominations:
Self‑nominated candidates should submit:

  • A curriculum vitae
  • A brief statement describing fields of expertise and a vision for advancing the mission and impact of REE

For peer‑nominated candidates, the nominator should submit:

  • A brief statement describing the nominee’s fields of expertise and how they will advance the mission and impact of REE

The search will be conducted by the AREUEA Publications Committee, with final appointment subject to approval by the AREUEA Board of Directors.
