Seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position with background in: Real Estate Economics, Finance, Investment, Development and Sustainability.

Background:  The University of San Diego Real Estate Program has a long tradition of teaching excellence, scholarship and service to industry. The Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate was established in 1993 when the program in real estate was founded, and a separate Real Estate Department was born in 2021. As a “Center of Excellence” at the University of San Diego School of Business, the mission of the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate is to help recruit, educate and mentor real estate students with the goal of facilitating their career pursuits in a socially-responsible manner, with a global perspective and in collaboration with the real estate industry. We accomplish this mission through the support of outstanding faculty and professional staff, dedicated career services, active industry involvement and outreach and cutting-edge research. College Factual has ranked USD as No. 1 three years in a row in 2020, 2019 and 2018 in its category "Best Real Estate Colleges in the U.S." The Masters of Science degree program was established in 2005 and provides a one year accelerated program or two year part time program.

Job description and Qualifications: With a faculty appointment based in the Department of Real Estate, the aim is to teach and conduct research in real estate finance, economics, market analysis, development, sustainability and related fields. The ideal candidate will have conducted research in one or more areas of the real estate field. The ideal candidate will enjoy teaching and interaction with industry, possibly with some experience in providing industry talks on occasion or some involvement with trade associations such as NAIOP, ULI, CCIM, CORENet, PREA, NCREIF or other national associations. The person hired will be expected to teach master degree students, as well as some undergraduate students.

Qualifications: Ph.D. degree required (or expected to complete the Ph.D. by the time of taking this position), as well as some publications, teaching and research experience.  The PhD might be from finance, economics, or possibly other fields, but if from a non-traditional field, the candidate must demonstrate competitive research within business disciplines and some exposure and interest in industry trends and concerns.
